bio:

Steven Cavanagh is an artist, curator and lecturer who works with photography, moving image and more recently installation and performance.Steven studied a BFA at the National Art School where he discovered and then majored in Photography in 2003. He went on to do Fine Art Hons in photography in 2004 and completed an MFA in Photography in 2010. Steven is currently a Photomedia lecturer with the National Art School and the Australian Centre for Photography. Steven also works for Arts OutWest as their Communications Officer and divides his time between his home in Hill End, Bathurst and Sydney. He has written for numerous publications, been awarded residencies and been a finalist in multiple photographic awards. Steven’s work is held within private and public collections. His work is exhibited widely.

Steven Cavanagh is an artist, curator and lecturer who works with photography, moving image and more recently installation and performance. His art practice is concerned with the physical and psychological landscape of masculine identity, vulnerability and loss. Cavanagh’s work is often politically charged with reference to his own lived experience.
