Cementa_13 is proud to announce its media partnership with The Art Life. After 3 emails and maybe two phone conversations, parties from both organisations sat down to a tense and gruelling half hour of negotiations from which we emerged as festival and media partner. It is difficult to express our pleasure at this moment without slipping into hyperbole, but yay! We could think of no better media partner than The Art Life, who’s readership is co-extensive with the audience we would most like to see at Kandos this coming February. And this means you, the art lover on the ground, at the opening, on the trail from gallery to gallery, engaging with the art of so many local scenes and the many wild and wondrous creatures of this world we call the art world, whatever else it might be. In doing so, we bring it into being.
Cementa_13 is first a celebration of the scope and energy of contemporary art in Australia and all the people whose dedication, love and enthusiasm make it so. That is why we so value the support of The Art Life, arising as it has, out of that same ground, out of the same process of emergence that has seen contemporary art in Australia take form, and solidify as a cultural phenomena over the last thirty years. We hope to make Cementa_13 a part of that continuing process.
The Art Life will not only support the festival through coverage of its development and promotion of its program, Andrew Frost and Carrie Miller have agreed to lead panel discussions with a number of the festival artists. This will contribute a dimension of dialogue to the festival and offer us an opportunity to reflect on what it is we are doing through this festival, and our pursuit of the contemporary in art. We hope you can join us on this unreasonable adventure.
