Hello Kandos Spinners! My work for Cementa_13 will be to facilitate a memorial to the cement works and the people who worked there. We will spin wool as a group, collect stories from the town and make a memorial from wool and cement. If you are a spinner living in Kandos, please come and join us for a drink, a spin and a chat about the cement works. Meet at the Kandos Museum at 7pm Wednesday 12th December, bring a plate and your wheel. The cement works were integral to the formation of Kandos, but now that they are leaving there is a rich history for us to talk about. If you have a story about the cement works, but you don't know how to spin, come along and we will teach you. The aim of this project will be to spin a memorial to the cement works that will be given over to the towns museum. As an extra special treat, Leanne Wicks will be giving a talk on ancient greek spinning and the relationship between mythology, textiles and text.
