These steel balls where made to act as anchor buoys, they were part of commercial shipping infrastructure. There is an aspect of this part of the land that’s hard and harsh, it’s a long way from the ocean and the delights so central to the modern version of Australia. These things are stranded here and yearn for water. The title refers to the poem Sea Fever by John Masefield.
