Kandos artists exhibit at the MCA!

by admin |

Kandos High School students Laandi Buckland and Ben Abrahams, famously featured in our last blog post, got their big break in the art world last week with an exhibit at the MCA. Also featured was the work of Hayley Harvey who couldn’t make the opening due to a conflict in scheduling with her performance at this year’s Kandos High School showcase.

The two artists travelled with our team down to the MCA to open an exhibition of artworks created as part of the MCA’s Bella program on The International Day for People With Disability and talk about their work with local school children.

We also caught up with Studio A art stars, Thom Roberts and Skye Saxon, who began us all on this journey last year when then hosted workshops during their residency in Kandos.

We also had the great privilege of catching the brilliant exhibition of Pipilotti Rist

and then made even more art!

and had even more fun!

We had a brilliant time! Thank you to everyone at the MCA who made us feel so welcome and showed us so many amazing artworks, to Skye and Thom and the crew from Studio A, to Kandos Rotary and Kandos High School for making the trip possible and to Accessible Arts and the Don’t Dis my Ability campaign for funding the entire program. I can wait to see what happens next year!
