Lauren Smith’s drawings and sculptures address fluctuations in human experience using repetitive gestures and self-cataloguing charts. Her recent works use simple circular forms to delineate moments and record pace. Although immaterial and potentially unquantifiable, Smith utilises durational drawing as a way to record fluctuations in perception of identity, time and self. Through accumulation the actions create a single congruent form eliminating the fragmentation of individual moments. The artwork serves as an aggregate to discuss the intersection of visceral language and introspective dialogue.
