Sophie Dumaresq

Working across photo‑media, installation, sculpture, and performance, Sophie Dumaresq explores what it means to share joy, love, and laughter in our relationships with other humans and non‑humans. Her studio and performance practices are grounded and intertwined with her role as both a performer and maker. The physicality and limitations of her own body and mind, and her collaborators, including her dog Frankie, and their surrounding environments/landscapes, help explore what it is to try to communicate in a universe filled with beings whose brains, existence, and/or bodies are built inherently differently from our own.
