Jessie McCall
Jessie makes live performance work that collides choreography and spatial design. Her practice embraces humour, low-culture, and the theatrical frame, as vehicles of the profound.
Jessie seeks the disruptions of the queer lens to offer a restorative ‘glitch’ in our collective ways of being. She seeks performance languages that are both challenging and anti-elitist. Her practice welcomes people as they are, while summoning ostranenie (making the familiar strange), in order to glimpse the world anew.

SHRED EVENT is a performance that asks what we do with damage done. Subverting the premise of a corporate shred event, a mundane act of disposal becomes a choreographic inquiry into grief, transformation and the limits of repair. It lingers in the uneasy space where endings and beginnings overlap, questioning the narratives we inherit and preserve, and searching for a form of repair that acknowledges what cannot be reversed.
