Solange Kershaw is an electronic artist and composer whose art practice involves exploring different ways of hearing, interpreting and interacting with the world. Her artistic commissions have included ABC Radio, the Ensemble Theatre, the Australian Museum, the Sydney Writers Festival, AFTRS, SBS Radio, and many more. Kershaw also works closely with her partner Damian Castaldi and, in their collaborative practice, they work extensively with sensor technologies and various hardware/softwares to produce gesture-based interactive sound installations.
Damian Castaldi is a sound and digital media artist currently based in Kandos, NSW. He has built a career on a diverse practice that encompasses mixed media installation, performance and audiovisual production. The focus in his current work is on designing real-time, interactive systems; new musical instruments and sculptural objects for performance and audiovisual installation. In this area he also works closely with his partner, Solange Kershaw.
s o d a c a k e (a.k.a. Solange Kershaw and Damian Castaldi) have an independent arts practice in mixed-media installation, performance, electronic and acoustic music composition, creative coding and audiovisual production. In April 2016 they relocated from Blackheath to Kandos and currently live and work there. Individually and in collaboration they have represented Australia in symposia, conferences, performances, radio broadcasts and exhibitions in Montréal, Toronto, New York, Chicago, Holland, Barcelona, Paris, Weimar, Liverpool, New Zealand and Tasmania. Within Australia they have worked, exhibited, performed and broadcast in Kandos, Pekina, Katoomba, Bilpin, Casula, Newcastle, Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney.
