bio:

In 2022, besides curating the sound art program for Cementa Festival, the music program for the Greenway Festival, conducting regional tours with the Sydney Improvisers Composers Kollektiv Orchestra, programming events and cultural activities in Sydney, Trevor is the Artist in Residence at the historic Whites Creek Cottage in Sydney.

He has composed music for film, dance, circus, theatre, radio, and spoken word, including for STC, Belvoir St, Bangarra, Dance North, Circus Oz, AGNSW, Australian Museum, MONA, DARK MOFO, ABC and JJJ. He won the 2019 North Sydney Art Prize for Site Specific Work for his sonic and kinetic installation in collaboration with Marta Fericcin. Trevor has worked with several major ensembles in Europe including Markus Stockhausen’s Intuitive Music Orchestra in Köln, he has performed with and/or conducted the London Improvisers Orchestra, Vienna and Berlin Improvising Orchestras. Trevor is also a respected community project organiser with more than 25 years experience. He was a team leader for Music Outback Foundation, working with remote Indigenous communities across NT, SA and NSW, and has worked on community projects with disadvantaged and special needs organisations.

Trevor Brown is a freelance composer, sound designer, director, producer and radio presenter who works across several artistic and cultural fields and disciplines and has more than thirty years of professional experience in the international arena. He works extensively across Australia and tours yearly (pre-Covid) to Europe with range of solo and collaborative projects based in Venice, Vienna, Zagreb and Budapest. He is the Artistic Director of the Sydney Improvisers Composers Kollektiv Orchestra and is currently lecturing at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, previously lecturing at RMIT.
